Pre Wedding Preparation
“A winning effort begins with preparation.”
Items to Avoid:
Anything glitter (Can transfer onto the grooms suit)
Chewing gum
Bulking items in pocket (wallet, cell phone, keys etc.)
Tanning/Sun 3-5 days before your wedding. It is not a bad idea to add color to your complexion by tanning, just avoid sunburn. I do not recommend doing spray tans!
Dry skin & chapped lips
Tan lines. Neckline, sleeves, sunglass and watch tan lines.
Suggestions:
Pick simple, classic styles that won’t look dated in a few years. This applies to clothing, hairstyle, hair color and jewelry.
Trimmed ear, eyebrow and nose hair. Clean-shaven, be detailed in your shave. If you choose to have facial hair or stubble that is fine. If you easily get razor burn, shave at the right time to have the least amount of razor burn on the wedding day. Please prepare by wearing Chap Stick and moisturizer weeks before the wedding. Trimmed and clean finger nails.
Shoes polished, dress socks, stockings free of runs. Clothing neatly pressed and ironed.
During the hot summer months be sure to drink plenty of water the night before the wedding. The grooms should carry a handkerchief in his pocket for brow perspiration during hot summer months.
Apply eye drops and moisturizer the day of your wedding.
Men should cut their hair 2-5 days before the wedding day. Cut to the length you want it to be on the wedding day. Neckline should be neatly shaped and clean.
Make sure teeth are cleaned and flossed.
The grooms should stick together side by side as often as possible. This allows for both to be in the candid images. Be conscience of your body language for I am constantly photographing candid images of you throughout the day.
Cufflinks for men are a small detail that adds a nice touch. You will need to buy a French cuff shirt to make this work.
Please run a link roller over tuxedo/suit. Pockets are to be empty!
DON’T FORGET THE WEDDINGS RINGS AND MARRIAGE LICENSE.
Check the car you will be traveling in to make sure it has a full tank of gas. Do this the day prior to the wedding.
A boutonniere for men is worn. The boutonniere is worn on the left lapel. A bouquet is not a bad idea either. Pick one or the other for each of you.
Please check your suit/tuxedo days prior to the wedding day. Check for loose buttons or anything important that may be missing. Especially if renting a tuxedo check the top buttons on the jacket(s) before you walk out with the rentals. I have see many buttons pop off at weddings on rentals.
An important reminder
OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS: There are to be no other professional photographers, and/or photographers building their portfolio taking photos during the scheduled events for which the Photographer has been hired. Client is asked NOT to encourage family or friends to take photos with professional cameras during the event for which the photographer is hired. Other photographers present can adversely affect the final outcome of your images. One hired videographer taking strictly video as well as a photo booth are both acceptable. People taking photos on their phone is also acceptable. Client understands and agrees that he or she has hired Brandon Burk Photography as the exclusive Photographer for this event. In order to provide a high level of satisfaction and quality product, no other service providers (including family members) may be allowed to disrupt the event by photographing the services outlined in this Agreement. No other venders/family members will be permitted to provide the same or similar services or products, paid or unpaid, at the locations and dates specified in this Agreement.
If it is a hot summers day it is not a bad idea to have a secondary clean white button up shirt and secondary pair of clean dress socks for the reception.
If you are doing a sparkler exit and the venue is not providing the service for you I recommend bringing a torch lighter (hand torch) for the lighting of all the sparklers. If the venue is doing this for you they will most likely have this.
Bouquet tip: I personally prefer a bouquet that is shaped and well rounded without twigs, excess dangling/hanging from the sides. These items poking out the sides will cast shadows onto your dress and look funny poking out and covering your arm etc. They can be a distraction. This is merely a suggestion and there are exceptions.
