Utah Autumn Photography Locations
Autumn foliage typically begins at high mountain altitudes during the last week of September, filling the mountain landscape until approximately the middle of October.
In the lower valleys, the fall foliage usually emerges around mid-October, filling the landscape until approximately the first to second week of November.
Mountain landscapes offer stunning backdrops for family portraits, but it's important to note that you might need to travel a greater distance to reach these locations. If you prefer a more convenient portrait session, consider scheduling your photoshoot in the valley area between mid-October and early November.
For those seeking the locations with the best fall colors, I've provided direct links to prime photo locations for fall colors in both the September to Mid-October and Mid-October to early November periods.
After you've selected both a location and a date, I'll be able to advise you on the optimal time to begin taking photos for your specific setting. As a general guideline, the recommended start times for optimal lighting can vary by up to 20 minutes earlier or later, depending on your chosen location.
Late September through Early October - Start time of 5:45pm
Mid October through the first week of November - Start time of 5:15pm
Click on each location to see more images taken there. Each location may vary in the way it looks depending upon the time of year. When you click on a location it will open it in a new tab. Please remember to return to this landing page to continue exploring the filtered locations.
Please Note: As stated in my pricing information “travel fees may apply.” If a photo location has a travel fee it will be noted in the notes at the top of the photo gallery. The majority of images in each location gallery are long-distance shots, providing a comprehensive view of the location. I also capture close-ups and three-quarter length images but do not include them in the location guide since they don't depict the surroundings of the actual location.
